5-start Review in the Sunday Telegraph
Saul’s new book Devil DogsĀ has been given a 5-star review in the Sunday Telegraph by historian Simon Heffer, who writes:
‘Page-turning… The details and personalities are set out in a chronicle that is part Hollywood film-script, but never less than rigorously researched history. David has a claim to be our finest living military historian, with a string of highly acclaimed books about a range of conflicts behind him… It is like all those films that you have seen of the Pacific war; but this is a scholarly work, and teh copious footnotes [show] that these remarkable events really happened… David superbly recreates every aspect of the atmosphere of this war short of exposing his readership to the actual physical danger… A superb history.’
